About the role
SteelAxis designs and fabricates material-handling systems — conveyors, hoppers, and structural skids — for cement and food-processing plants. The design office of 14 engineers sits next to the fabrication shop in Changodar, so you see your drawings become steel within weeks and learn from what the welders send back. Expect 3–4 short client-site visits a year for measurements and commissioning support.
Key responsibilities
- Model parts and assemblies in SolidWorks for conveyor and structural-skid projects
- Prepare fabrication drawings with complete GD&T, weld symbols, and surface-finish callouts
- Generate BOMs and cut-lists that purchase can order from without clarification calls
- Run interference checks and basic FEA sanity checks before design release
- Incorporate shop-floor feedback into revisions and maintain drawing history in PDM
- Support estimation with weight calculations and material take-offs for new tenders
Requirements
- 2–5 years of design experience in fabrication, machinery, or capital equipment
- Strong command of SolidWorks sheet-metal and weldment environments
- Ability to read and apply IS 2062, IS 800, and standard fabrication tolerances
- Practical understanding of laser cutting, bending, and welding constraints
- Willingness to work from the Changodar plant office six days a week (alternate Saturdays off)
Nice to have
- Exposure to conveyor design standards (CEMA or IS 11592)
- Working knowledge of SolidWorks Simulation or ANSYS
- Experience preparing GA drawings for client approval cycles
