About the role
UrbanBasket runs 38 neighbourhood supermarkets in Bengaluru, and two new 4,000 sq ft stores are opening in HSR Layout and Whitefield this quarter. As Store Manager you run everything inside the four walls — a 18–22 person team, fresh produce that must move daily, and a customer base that lives within two kilometres and notices everything. Store managers earn a monthly bonus tied to sales, shrinkage, and audit scores, which added 15–20% for the better performers last year.
Key responsibilities
- Own daily store operations from 7 am stock receiving to 10 pm closing handover
- Roster and lead a team of 18–22 across cashiering, floor, fresh, and backroom roles
- Keep shrinkage under 1.2% through receiving discipline, cycle counts, and expiry management
- Maintain fill rates above 95% on the top 500 SKUs by chasing indents and local vendors
- Handle escalated customer complaints on the floor and close them before the customer leaves
- Clear weekly hygiene, FSSAI, and visual-merchandising audits at 90%+ scores
Requirements
- 3–6 years in food or grocery retail, with 1+ year running a store or large department
- Practical command of POS billing, GRN, and stock-adjustment workflows
- Experience managing fresh categories — fruit, vegetables, dairy — and their wastage cycles
- Kannada and Hindi speaking ability for staff and customer interactions
- Flexibility for six-day weeks with a rotating weekly off; peak-season leave restrictions apply
