About the role
This is a 6–12 month contract, extendable based on project milestones, to help Cirrusware move 30+ workloads from self-managed EC2 to EKS. The work is fully remote with a four-hour overlap requirement with IST business hours. Contractors invoice monthly and are paid within 15 days; the quoted range is the annualised equivalent. Several past contractors have converted to permanent roles after the first extension.
Key responsibilities
- Write Terraform modules for EKS clusters, node groups, and supporting VPC infrastructure
- Package application deployments as Helm charts with sane defaults and documented values
- Migrate CI pipelines from Jenkins to GitHub Actions with build caching and parallel stages
- Set up Prometheus alerting rules and Grafana dashboards for the migrated services
- Cut AWS spend by right-sizing instances and moving batch jobs to spot capacity
- Document every migration step so the in-house team can operate the platform after handover
Requirements
- 3–6 years in DevOps or platform engineering with AWS as the primary cloud
- At least one production Kubernetes migration or greenfield EKS build on your resume
- Fluent Terraform, including state management and module design
- Scripting ability in Bash and Python for glue work and automation
- A home setup with reliable power and internet suitable for remote on-call windows
- Ability to start within 30 days; immediate joiners preferred
Nice to have
- CKA or AWS DevOps Professional certification
- Experience with service mesh (Istio or Linkerd)
- Prior contract or consulting engagements with clear handover records
- Exposure to compliance-driven environments (SOC 2, ISO 27001)
