About the role
CloudNimbus is rebuilding its core billing platform from a monolith into event-driven microservices, and this role sits at the centre of that migration. You will own two services end to end, from design review to production monitoring. The team ships every two weeks and follows a three-days-in-office hybrid schedule at the Bellandur campus. Notice periods up to 60 days are workable; immediate joiners get priority interview slots.
Key responsibilities
- Design and build Spring Boot microservices that handle 40k+ requests per minute on the billing platform
- Lead the strangler-pattern migration of two monolith modules into independent services
- Write and review Kafka consumer logic for payment-event processing with exactly-once guarantees
- Tune PostgreSQL queries and indexing for tables crossing 100 million rows
- Mentor two junior developers through structured code reviews and pairing sessions
- Participate in a fortnightly on-call rotation with a defined runbook and escalation path
- Contribute to architecture decision records before any new service is approved
Requirements
- 5–8 years of hands-on Java development, with at least 2 years on Java 11 or later
- Production experience running Spring Boot services behind an API gateway
- Working knowledge of Kafka or an equivalent message broker in a live system
- Strong SQL skills, including query-plan analysis on PostgreSQL or MySQL
- Experience containerising applications with Docker and deploying to AWS ECS or EKS
- Comfort writing unit and integration tests as part of the definition of done
Nice to have
- Exposure to gRPC for inter-service communication
- Experience with Grafana and Prometheus dashboards
- Prior work in fintech or subscription-billing domains
- Contributions to open-source Java libraries
